
Mumbai: Seven people, including six members of a family were killed, and two others injured in a collision between two vehicles at Chalisgaon Rural area in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra past midnight, the police said.
The collision between a light commercial vehicle (LCV) and a four wheeler occurred at 12.30 am in Ranjangaon Phata on Chalisgaon-Aurangabad road, they said, adding a man riding a motorbike just behind the four-wheeler also died in the incident.
On getting information about the incident, Chalisgaon Rural Police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to a nearby hospital, a police official said. The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Chavan (40), Namdeo Chavan (42), Shilabai Chavan (35), Mitesh Chavan (18), Mithun Chavan (23), Shubham Chavan (18) and the two- wheeler rider Pandit Jadhav (55), the police said.
Mayur Chavan and Geetabai Chavan suffered serious injuries, they said. All the six members of the family who died in the incident were residents of Bodare village in Chalisgaon Rural. They were going to Aurangabad, the police official said. A case has been registered in the matter and probe is underway, he added. PTI
