Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Unity Day, commemorated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 149th birth anniversary with a tribute at Gujarat's Statue of Unity. Addressing the audience at the Unity Parade Ground in Kevadia, Modi highlighted the coincidence of National Unity Day and Diwali, remarking on Diwali’s role in connecting India globally—citing U.S. President Joe Biden’s recent Diwali celebration at the White House.

In his speech, the Prime Minister revisited the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, calling it a permanent step to strengthen the nation’s unity. He criticized opposition parties for what he described as selective respect for the Constitution and underscored his government’s success in tackling national security issues over the past decade. Modi asserted that India’s stance on security has deterred terrorist threats, reassuring that such adversaries “know harming India won’t yield results.”
Additionally, Modi highlighted the government's strides in resolving issues in Northeast India through “dialogue, trust, and development.” He also noted that while global tensions push some nations apart, many are drawing closer to India, recognizing the nation's balanced approach to strength and peace.
