“Infiltration happening from the Bengal border is an issue of national security,” he stated.

Amit Shah vs Mamata Banerjee: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday alleged that the West Bengal government is not allowing land to be provided for establishing border fencing along the Bangladesh border. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hit back, questioning Shah’s remarks.

Earlier in the day, the Home Minister, press conference, questioned, “Can the CM answer why infiltration has stopped at the borders of Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir and Gujarat? It is because, in West Bengal, infiltration occurs under your watch to bring about demographic change and strengthen your votes.”

He declared that the upcoming election in the state would be fought on the issues of stopping infiltration and removing infiltrators from the state.

“Infiltration happening from the Bengal border is an issue of national security,” he stated.

Amit Shah claimed that he wrote 7 letters to Mamata Banerjee on the issue of fencing (along India-Bangladesh border). He further stated that in the last 6 years, the Home Secretary has visited West Bengal thrice and held meetings with the State Chief Secretary.

Additionally, during the press conference, Home Minister Amit Shah stated that Matuas have no reason to fear. "It is the BJP's promise that persecuted refugees who have come to Bengal are citizens of India, and no one can harm them, not even Mamata Banerjee."

He also clarified and assured the citizens of West Bengal that all existing state government schemes will continue if the BJP comes to power in the state.

Soon after, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's statement came sharply reacting to Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks.

CM Mamata, according to ANI, said, "Dushasana, a disciple of Shakuni, has come to Bengal to gather information. As soon as the elections come, Dushasana and Duryodhana start appearing. Today, they (the BJP) are saying that Mamata Banerjee didn't give land. Who gave the land in Petrapole and Andal?”

“They say that infiltrators only enter from Bengal. If that's the case, did you carry out the attack in Pahalgam? Who was behind the incident that happened in Delhi?..."
