Covid-19 reason behind heart attacks: Minister Advises Caution in Post-COVID Exercise Regimen to Prevent Heart Complications

Covid-19 reason behind heart attacks: In view of a recent surge in heart attacks among the younger population, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya issued a vital caution to individuals who have battled severe COVID-19 infections. Speaking at an event in his hometown of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Mandaviya revealed that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has conducted an extensive study on the matter, recommending a cautious approach to physical activity during the recovery phase.

According to the experts, recovering from COVID-19 can sometimes lead to lingering heart problems, affecting patients known as "long-haulers." These individuals may experience symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, chest pain, and shortness of breath. Distinguishing whether these symptoms are heart-related or a result of general illness can be challenging, experts shed light on this issue.

While a diagnosis of heart failure after COVID-19 is infrequent, individuals experiencing shortness of breath or leg swelling should consult their doctor. If tests suggest potential risks, a cardiologist's evaluation may be recommended.

- Monitoring Heart Rate after COVID-19:

After recovering from COVID-19, individuals experiencing a rapid heartbeat or palpitations should seek medical attention. Various factors, such as dehydration or fever, can temporarily elevate heart rate. Symptoms indicating a rapid or irregular heart rhythm include palpitations, dizziness upon standing, and chest discomfort.

Identifying Heart Problems Post-COVID-19

While some individuals may experience irregular heart rates unrelated to exertion, common complaints after COVID-19 recovery include shortness of breath, chest pain, or palpitations. These symptoms may be heart-related, but they can also result from other factors, such as the aftermath of illness or extended periods of inactivity.

In conclusion, as heart-related issues emerge as a concern among COVID-19 survivors, experts advise caution in post-recovery exercise and emphasize the importance of monitoring and seeking medical attention for any unusual symptoms, ultimately safeguarding long-term health.
