Authorities Gear Up for Amrit Snan on Vasant Panchami; VIP Movement Restricted Latest News: Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 30: In preparation for the upcoming Amrit Snan on Vasant Panchami, authorities in Prayagraj have announced strict security measures and restricted VIP movement on February3. This decision follows a tragic stampede on January 29 during Mauni Amavasya, which claimed 30 lives and injured 60 people.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh arrived in Prayagraj to inspect the site of the stampede and supervise the security arrangements for the third Amrit Snan. DIG Vaibhav Krishna stated that authorities are strengthening duties and reopening all bridges due to reduced crowds. He emphasized that no VIP movement will be allowed on February 3, similar to the restrictions imposed on January 29.

The stampede occurred in the early hours of January 29 as millions of devotees gathered at the meeting of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers to take a holy dip on Mauni Amavasya. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased and ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has postponed his visit to Delhi for the election campaign to focus on managing the crisis. The judicial inquiry will be headed by a three-member commission, including Justice Harsh Kumar, former DG VK Gupta, and retired IAS DK Singh.

Authorities are working according to their plan for each zone  to ensure the safety of pilgrims during the upcoming Amrit Snan. The community and officials are committed to preventing any further misfortune and ensuring a safe and peaceful event for all participants.
