Uttarakhand Tunnel Rescue Latest Updates: In a remarkable turn of events, 41 workers who were trapped in an under-construction tunnel in Uttarkashi since Diwali have been successfully rescued on the 17th day of intensive efforts. A team of skilled rat miners played a pivotal role in extracting the workers from the tunnel, marking a moment of relief and celebration for their families.
The rescue operation, which involved multiple teams working tirelessly for 17 days, faced challenges when an agar machine attempting to insert a pipe into the tunnel encountered an obstruction 12 meters before the target. Subsequently, the Rat Miners' expertise was sought, resulting in the successful evacuation of the workers on Tuesday evening.
The faces of the 41 laborers bore expressions of relief and joy upon receiving news of their rescue from the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi. Families, who had endured days of despair, joined in the celebration and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government for the safe return of their loved ones. The atmosphere was filled with the sound of bursting firecrackers, and the sweetness of the moment was shared through the distribution of sweets.
Video calls were a means for some family members to check on the well-being of the rescued workers, providing an emotional connection after days of separation. Those who had been camping at the site since a few days after the incident were finally able to physically embrace their loved ones.
The home of Manjit, a laborer from Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, resonated with joyous celebrations. Manjeet's father conveyed his happiness, saying, "I am very happy that my son has been rescued safely. I thank the Indian government for bringing out all the people trapped inside the tunnel safely."

Similar scenes of jubilation unfolded in Odisha's Nabarangpur, where family members of Bhagban Batra celebrated his successful rescue with firecrackers and sweets. The mother of Dhiren Naik, a laborer from Mayurbhanj in Odisha, extended gratitude to the Indian government for the successful rescue operation.
In Assam, family members of Ram Prasad Narzary expressed their happiness, with Narzary's wife stating, "I am very happy... I thank the Government of India." Narzary's father added, "I want to thank the Government of India and the Assam government for safely rescuing all the people trapped inside the tunnel. I am relieved after hearing that the rescued have been taken to the hospital."

Himachal Pradesh's lone worker, Vishal, brought joy to his family, and his mother, Urmila, expressed gratitude to the governments of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. "I am very happy with the governments of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh; I thank them from the bottom of my heart," she said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally conveyed his well-wishes to the rescued individuals during a phone call. Notably, Among the 41 workers, 15 are from Jharkhand, two from Uttarakhand, five from Bihar, three from West Bengal, eight from Uttar Pradesh, five from Odisha, two from Assam, and one from Himachal Pradesh.
