New Delhi: Hundreds of thousands of migrant labourers have been seen walking thousands of kilometers from the states to their homes during the lockdown caused by the corona virus epidemic in the country, but there is a farmer who had sent his workers directly by plane, not by bus or train to Bihar.

He had planned to go home in April and now he can’t believe that he is going to Samastipur by plane and not by foot or bicycle.

Returning with his son, Lakhinder Ram said, "I never thought in my life that one day I would travel by plane." I have no words to express my happiness but I am a little worried about what we will have to do when we arrive at the airport tomorrow.

He thanked Pappan Singh, a mushroom farmer from village Tigipur, Delhi, with whose help a new story of migrants is being written. When Lakhinder told his wife that he would return home from plane, she suddenly couldn't believe it.

Pappan said he booked tickets worth Rs 68,000 and gave Rs 3,000 in cash to everyone so that they would not have any difficulty in reaching home. He said he would drop off all his workers at the airport on Thursday morning.

Pappan said all the 10 workers may have left for Bihar by train in the first week of April but could not leave due to the lockdown, "I can't think of sending them thousands of miles on foot," he said. All ten workers have received health check-up certificates and are fit to travel by air.
