Kunal Kamra Booked in Three Cases Over Parody Song, Granted Anticipatory Bail by Madras HC, latest news: Kunal Kamra, after his parody song indirectly referring to Deputy CM Eknath Shinde stirred controversy, has been booked in three cases so far.
The complainants include the Mayor of Jalgaon city, a hotelier, and a businessman from Nashik, according to ANI.
Kamra has been summoned twice for questioning but has not appeared yet.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on Friday granted him anticipatory bail after he moved the court citing concerns over his safety. In his plea, he stated that although he was born in Mumbai, he relocated to Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, in 2021 to lead a quieter life.
Granting relief, Justice Sunder Mohan said, "This court is inclined to grant anticipatory bail till April 7. He shall execute a bond to the satisfaction of the Vanur judicial magistrate's court." The judge also noted that Kamra had sufficiently explained why he could not approach a court in Maharashtra immediately.
