Bodies of Four J&K Policemen Recovered; Wreath-Laying Ceremony Held for Head Constable Jagbir Singh, latest news: Jammu and Kashmir police have recovered the bodies of all four personnel who lost their lives in an anti-terror operation in Kathua district.
On March 29, 2025, the body of the fourth policeman, Head Constable Jagbir Singh, in charge of the Safiyan police post, was recovered along with the bodies of two slain militants in a remote forested area in Kathua district, according to media reports.
On Saturday, J&K Chief Minister attended the wreath-laying ceremony of Head Constable Jagbir Singh at Police Headquarters, Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
After the ceremony, DGP Nalin Prabhat briefed the media, stating, “On March 23, a woman saw Pakistani terrorists in Sanyal village. After receiving information about their presence, a small team of five police personnel immediately reached the area."
He further added, "There was an encounter between the terrorists and our police team."
Yesterday, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat laid a wreath and paid tribute to the other three martyred police personnel—Selection Grade Constable (SgCT) Balvinder Singh, SgCT Jaswant Singh, and SgCT Tariq Ahmed—at District Police Lines, Kathua, before their bodies were handed over to their families.

According to The Hindu, “The operation involves multiple agencies, including the Army, BSF, CRPF, and NSG, supported by helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs. Security forces have recovered grenades, ammunition, and tracksuits similar to those worn by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in previous encounters. Three suspects have been detained for questioning."
The operation was launched following a gunfight with terrorists hiding in a nursery in Sanyal village, and a manhunt is still underway to capture the infiltrators.
