Changing Weather Patterns Bring Unexpected Rain and Thunderstorms to the Capital, Prompting Flight Diversions

Delhi Flight Latest Update: In an unforeseen turn of weather events, Delhi experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Monday evening, leading to significant disruptions in flight operations at the Delhi airport. At least 16 flights were diverted due to adverse weather conditions, causing inconvenience for travelers.

An official from Delhi Airport reported that the diversions occurred between 6 and 8 pm, with 10 flights rerouted to Jaipur, three to Lucknow, two to Amritsar, and one to Ahmedabad.

Furthermore, five Air India flights, including one from Sydney, were diverted to alternative destinations due to the challenging weather conditions.

Notably, the Vistara flight UK742, en route from Guwahati to Delhi, faced diversion to Jaipur due to the inclement weather and air traffic congestion at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

As a response to the disruptions, Indigo Airlines issued a travel advisory, cautioning passengers about potential delays and changes in flight schedules attributed to the ongoing rain and air traffic challenges at Delhi Airport.

Weather Outlook:

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist RK Jenamani, Delhi is expected to remain cloudy on Tuesday, with the possibility of rain in various areas. The meteorological update suggests a continuation of unsettled weather conditions in the region. Travelers and residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and anticipate potential travel disruptions as authorities work to manage the aftermath of the unexpected rainfall in the capital.
