Four persons were killed and a woman was injured today after lightning struck them in different parts of the state, police said. Two persons were killed and another was injured after lightning struck them near Chaingada village under the jurisdiction of Badaninagar police station of Ramgarh district, the police said. Two youths had taken shelter under a tree during heavy rainfall and thunderstorm, a police officer said.

They were killed when lightning struck them, the officer said, adding that a woman who was passing through the area was also injured in the lightning strike. She was admitted to a local hospital, he said. The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Ramgarh district, Srikant Suresh Rao Khotre, said the deceased was yet to be identified.

In an another incident, a 40-year-old man was killed after he was struck by lightning in Bhasko Hedra Toli under the jurisdiction of Lohardaga police station in Lohardaga district today, the police said. In the third incident, a labourer was killed after lightning struck him in Maluatand under the jurisdiction of Deori police station in Giridih district, the police said.
