14 people died due to sky lightning strikes in West Bengal

Alipur recorded the highest wind speed of 79 km per hour

Kolkata: At least 14 people died due to lightning strikes in five districts of West Bengal. The officials shared this information. Several districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, Howrah, North 24 Parganas, Purba Bardhaman and Murshidabad, experienced thunderstorms along with lightning on Thursday evening. An official of the West Bengal Disaster Management Department said that lightning struck four other districts in East Bardhaman district and Murshidabad. 2-2 people died in North 24 Parganas.

West Bengal police officials said six more deaths were reported from West Midnapore and Howrah rural districts. An official said, "Three deaths have been reported each from West Midnapore and Howrah rural." According to the officials, most of the dead were farmers who were struck by lightning while working in the fields. An official of the Regional Meteorological Center said that Alipur recorded the highest wind speed of 79 km per hour.
