The Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai has claimed to discover a treatment to prevent the relapse of the cancer

Cancer Treatment in India: Doctors and researchers at Tata Institute in Mumbai have developed a treatment, claiming that it could prevent cancer from occurring again.

The Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai has claimed that it has discovered a treatment to prevent the relapse of the cancer. According to a report, the institute has made a tablet that they say will reduce the side effects of cancer treatment like chemotherapy by about 50 per cent and the chances of getting cancer for a second time would be only 30 per cent.

Even after cancer treatment, it spreads back in many patients. Doctors of Tata Hospital have studied and found the reason for this. The research has been conducted under the leadership of Dr. Indranil Mitra of Tata Hospital's Advanced Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) Hospital, Kharghar. 

He told that we have done research on rats. Human cancer cells were inserted into mice after which tumors formed in them. They treated them through radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery. After this, the cancer cells got destroyed and broke into very small pieces. The chromatin particles from the dying cancer cell reach other parts of the body through the blood vessel. These get mixed with the good cells present in the body and convert them into cancer cells. From this research, it has become clear that cancer cells come back despite being destroyed.

To find a solution to the problem, doctors gave rats a combined pro-oxidant tablet of resveratrol and copper. This tablet was effective in neutralizing chromozone. Tata doctors have been researching on this for almost a decade.

However, this tablet is awaiting approval from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

Dr. Rajendra Badve, former director of Tata Memorial Center, said that more research is needed to improve cancer treatment and Dr. Mitra's research will help to do so, around the world.

Dr. Pankaj Chaturvedi, Deputy Director, Center for Cancer Epidemiology, Tata Memorial Centre, said that along with finding out the root of the problem, its solution is equally important.

This pill also proves helpful in improving cancer treatment and reducing the side effects occurring during treatment. Copper - Resveratrol in this pill, is obtained from the peels of grapes, berries and other substances.
