Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar's visit to the United States underscores efforts to bolster bilateral maritime security collaboration

NEW-DELHI: Indian Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar, in the course of his four-day visit to the United States from September 19 to 22, emphasized avenues to strengthen bilateral maritime security cooperation within the rapidly evolving India-US strategic alliance. The discussions aimed to foster enhanced collaboration and partnerships within the Indo-Pacific region, reflecting the shared commitment of the two nations.

Admiral Kumar's visit included participation in the 25th International Sea Power Symposium (ISS) held at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, USA. The ISS, hosted by the US Navy, focused on promoting collaboration among like-minded navies, aligning towards a collective vision of an independent and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. This initiative provided a crucial platform to deliberate on strategies for achieving a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

In addition to the United States, Admiral Kumar's international engagements have included visits to several countries, including Australia, Egypt, Fiji, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the UK. These visits involved bilateral meetings with counterparts from various nations, emphasizing the Indian Navy's dedication to realizing a unified vision of an Indo-Pacific region that is open, inclusive, and governed by established norms and rules.
