Rajasthan Minister Vows to Repair Dilapidated Schools After 7 Children Die in Building Collapse
Rajasthan School Building Collapse Latest News Today: In a tragic incident on Friday morning, the roof of a school in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district collapsed, resulting in the death of seven students and leaving several others injured.
Following the incident, Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Babulal Kharadi addressed the media, pledging that all schools in a "state of disrepair" would be repaired.
"Such an incident should not have happened. We will direct the departments to ensure that children are not sent to any school that is in a state of disrepair... We have provided DMFT (District Mineral Foundation) funds for the renovation of schools in the area. There is a scheme, Dharti Aaba Birsa Munda, under which we have a budget for this. Under it, we will repair all the schools that are in a state of disrepair...The government should conduct an investigation..."
Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani expressed his condolences, calling the incident "tragic," and stressed the need for a thorough investigation.
"This incident must be investigated," Devnani said. "I request the Education Minister and the administration to address the issues behind this. If any school building is in a similar condition, alternative arrangements must be made. All District Collectors should review the condition of schools in their areas and take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future."
Earlier, a student claimed that she had noticed dust and pebble-like debris falling from the roof and had informed the school authorities. However, she alleged that their concerns were ignored.
