Woman Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Husband in Delhi; Affair Emerges as Motives
Woman Arrested Murder in Delhi Latest News: Police on Tuesday apprehended a 29-year-old woman in Outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar for allegedly murdering her 32-year-old husband on Sunday evening. The accused, identified as Farzana Khan, initially attempted to portray her husband's death as a suicide.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Farzana confessed to the murder when confronted with her phone's search history, which revealed queries about "ways to kill a person." She informed investigators that her husband, Mohammed Shahid alias Irfan, could not satisfy her sexual needs and was heavily in debt due to online gambling. She also admitted to having an affair with Shahid's cousin, who resides in Bareilly.
The couple were originally from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident came to light when Shahid's brother took him to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. The hospital, upon receiving Shahid, alerted the police. Shahid's brother initially told police, based on Farzana's account, that Shahid had committed suicide due to gambling-related debts.
However, a post-mortem examination conducted on Monday contradicted the suicide theory. "The doctors informed us that the wounds were inconsistent with suicide. One of them was fatal and could not have been self-inflicted," a senior officer was quoted as saying in the HT report. Three stab wounds were found on Shahid's body. The wife had initially claimed he stabbed himself due to stress from gambling losses.
Further investigation into Farzana's phone revealed internet search history related to "ways of killing someone using sleeping pills (sulphas), and how to delete chat histories."
Following these findings, Farzana confessed to the murder and admitted to her affair with her husband's cousin.
