Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visit Darbhanga latest news: Sunday saw Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visit Darbhanga to join a Farmers' Dialogue programme at the Makhana Research Centre. He was accompanied by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary. The Union Minister visited ten stalls that display a range of makhana products at the Makhana Research Centre at the Delhi Modh before officially inaugurating the programme.
After his encounter with makhana growers, Shivraj Singh Chouhan showed another side of him. The Union Agriculture Minister was seen in Darbhanga's makhana fields, interacting with the growers face to face. A video of Chouhan and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary sowing makhana saplings and talking to the growers has gone viral on social media.
Speaking to the farmers at the Makhana Research Centre, Chouhan laid stress on the use of technology to lower production costs for makhana growers. He talked about the creation of a Makhana Board to promote and assist makhana production.
"Bihar is a wonderful state," Chouhan said. "Its talent, agrarian farmers, and above all its makhana—a superfood—are perfect. For increasing makhana production, we are setting up a Makhana Board. Now, farmers of makhana are confronted by many issues, and we want to solve these problems through technological innovation."
Chouhan further explained that the Makhana Board would not operate from an office in Krishi Bhavan. "When we are working under Prime Minister Modi, we go to the people. So, it has been decided that the Makhana Board will not be established in Krishi Bhavan. I interacted personally with the makhana farmers today and took their inputs. Nobody can give better ideas than they do, and the structure of the Makhana Board will be determined through their feedback," he said.
The Union Agriculture Minister also added that Prime Minister Modi would be in Bhagalpur the following day. He stated that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi would transfer more than ₹22,700 crore to the accounts of 9.8 crore farmers throughout the nation with a single click. Chouhan pointed out that the scheme is a savior for the small farmers and would provide them with much-needed money.
Chouhan's presence and his grassroot-level strategy in the fields of makhana have connected strongly with farmers and the general public, displaying a dedication towards comprehending and solving the genuine problems of the farming community.
