Sheikh Hasina News: Bangladesh’s ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called India’s Northeast and “Chicken’s Neck” narrative “dangerous and irresponsible," in a statement, news agency ANI reported.

In an email interview with ANI, Hasina said, "Such statements are dangerous and irresponsible, reflecting the extremist elements that have gained influence under Yunus.”

“No serious leader would threaten a neighbour upon whom Bangladesh depends for trade, transit, and regional stability. This rhetoric serves only ideological fantasies, not Bangladesh's national interests,” she added.

She stated that India has every right to view such statements with “concern”.

“These voices do not represent the Bangladeshi people, who understand that our prosperity and security depend on strong ties with India. Once democracy is restored and responsible governance returns, such reckless talk will end,” Sheikh Hasina further added.

Awami League supremo Hasina’s statement comes against the backdrop of controversial remarks by National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah, who reportedly said that Bangladesh could shelter separatist forces from India and sever the seven northeastern states from the rest of the country, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.

Fresh violence erupted in Bangladesh recently, following the death of a youth leader, Sharif Osman Hadi, which was followed by the mob lynching of a Hindu Man, Dipu Chandra Das, in Bangladesh's Mymensingh over allegations of blasphemy.

Earlier today, Hindu religious organisations and minority groups staged a protest in Dhaka, calling Dipu innocent and citing similar atrocities against the minorities in the country.
