Rescue operations are underway at the accident site

PITHORAGARH: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded today in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district, resulting in the loss of nine lives. A car veered off the road and plunged into a ravine, claiming the lives of the occupants. Additionally, two individuals are currently in critical condition and are receiving medical treatment at Pithoragarh Hospital.

Rescue operations are underway at the accident site, with teams from the Pithoragarh Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working diligently to assist and retrieve any survivors. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the authorities to ensure the best possible care for the injured individuals.

According to reports, the accident occurred near the Munisiyari block when the car, traveling from Shama in Bageshwar towards Nachani in Pithoragarh, suddenly veered off the road and fell into the ravine. Local residents promptly alerted the police and administration upon witnessing the incident. The nearby police station dispatched a team to the scene, which then requested the assistance of medical and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel to initiate the rescue operation.
