INDIA Bloc VP Candidate Vice Presidential candidate B Sudershan Reddy Latest News: Opposition's Vice Presidential candidate B Sudershan Reddy on Thursday stated the office of Vice President is not a political office and that people have misconceptions. He said it is a highly constitutional office, which is required to be independent, autonomous, and impartial, which he said are also the qualities of a judge.
The former Supreme Court judge on Thursday met AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal with other Opposition leaders, following which he made the statement, speaking to the media.
He said, “Yesterday, Arvind Kejriwal had sent Sanjay Singh to support my candidature at the time of the nomination. I am grateful to him; I have come here to express my gratitude for his graciousness in supporting my candidature. What he said, I have been repeating in last two days, I am not a political person, the office of Vice President is also not a political office, many people have misconceptions, it's a high constitutional office, which is required to be independent, autonomous, impartial, which are also the qualities of a judge.”
He added that the above-mentioned reasons are why he accepted to be a Vice presidential candidate when some of his friends requested, and which also has the endorsement from the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.
“that's the reason why I accepted the request made by some friends, which has also got endorsement from the veteran leader (Arvind Kejriwal), I express my gratitude as he extended his solidarity, and provoked all of us to think afresh as to what is happening in this country, what are the challenges,” Reddy said.
He added that he won’t be associated with any political party.
“I am going to be among the concerned citizens of the country, not associated with any political party," he added.
The vice presidential election is slated to take place on the 9th of September.
