New Delhi: US Vice President JD Vance, who is on a four-day visit to India commencing Monday, has arrived at Delhi Airport, according to reports by ANI and PTI on their X handles.
Vance is accompanied by his India-origin wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, and their three children. This marks his first official visit to the country.
They were received by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and a traditional dance performance was showcased to welcome them. In a video shared by ANI, JD Vance can be seen walking with the minister, while their children appear in Indian attire.
In anticipation of his visit, hoardings featuring the US Vice President were set up near Palam Airport and in Chanakyapuri, a diplomatic and upscale neighborhood in New Delhi.
According to a report in The Times of India, Vance was formally received at 10:00 am on the day of his arrival, April 21. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 pm at the Prime Minister’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
Later on Monday, the family will fly to Jaipur, where they will be received at the airport by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the Governor. They are expected to stay at the historic Rambagh Palace, the report added.
On Day 2 (April 22), Vice President Vance will visit historical sites including Amer Fort, and is also likely to explore Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, and other landmarks. In the second half of the day, he is scheduled to deliver an address on India-US ties at the Rajasthan International Centre, which will be attended by diplomats, Indian officials, and academic and policy experts. He will also meet the Chief Minister and Governor of Rajasthan.
On Day 3, the Vice President will visit the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram, an open-air craft market near Agra.
On the final day of the visit (April 24), Vice President Vance and his family are scheduled to depart from India in the morning.
