Central Government's Measures Aim to Ease Burden on Common Man Amid Falling Tomato Prices

NEW-DELHI: In a welcome development for consumers, the government has taken significant steps to alleviate the financial strain on the common man. The prices of subsidized tomatoes have been further reduced, and citizens can now purchase tomatoes at an affordable rate of Rs 70 per kg. This price reduction comes into effect from July 20, 2023, and aims to provide relief to households grappling with inflation.

The initiative was launched last week, enabling consumers to access tomatoes at subsidized rates, bringing some respite to their budgets.

However, in response to the market dynamics and to further support consumers, the price was subsequently reduced to Rs 80 per kg on July 16, 2023.
