AI & QR Codes: Delhi Traffic Police’s Digital Push for Republic Day 2026

The Delhi Traffic Police has implemented an AI-driven traffic and parking management plan for the upcoming Republic Day parade in a technological initiative. The measures are designed to ensure a hassle-free experience for the 77,000 spectators expected at Kartavya Path.

According to the report, authorities have prepared detailed animated videos using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to familiarise visitors with arrival, parking, and dispersal plans.

These videos can be accessed through the Ministry of Defence website or via the QR code-based parking system issued to invitees. The smart parking management system covers 22 designated lots and is designed to accommodate approximately 8,000 vehicles.

To assist with navigation, ticket holders can use Google Maps or Mappls for real-time support.

Mappls has created a dedicated Republic Day tab, while Google Maps will display marked parking spots and entry/exit routes. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rajiv Kumar said that technology is being leveraged on a large scale to make the experience seamless.

Additionally, 12 help desks have been set up at key locations, and a new "car-calling" system has been introduced to manage the dispersal of invitees and avoid crowding at exit gates after the event.
