KV Viswanathan will become the Chief Justice of the country in August 2030

NEW-DELHI: Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and former senior advocate KV Viswanathan have taken oath as judges in the Supreme Court. Both were administered oath by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Friday. The Supreme Court collegium had recommended both the judges on May 16. The Center had approved their appointment on May 18.

With this, the quorum of 34 judges has been completed in the Supreme Court. It is being reported that KV Viswanathan will become the Chief Justice of the country in August 2030. Viswanathan will head the Supreme Court of the country till 24th May 2031 i.e. more than 9 months.

Notably, Viswanathan was born on 26 May 1966. He completed his law degree from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He joined the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 1988. After practicing in the Supreme Court for more than two decades, he was appointed as a senior advocate in 2009.

It is worth noting here that Justice Prashant Mishra was born in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. He received his LLB degree from Guru Ghasidas University. Apart from practicing in the Raigarh District Court, he advocated for a long time in the Jabalpur and Bilaspur High Courts. In 2005, the Chhattisgarh High Court stamped his name as a senior advocate. He has also been the Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Bar Council for 2 years. After being appointed Advocate General in 2007, he was made a High Court judge on 10 December 2009. Two years ago, he was promoted as the Chief Justice from a senior judge.
