Happy Passia had been on the radar of Indian security agencies for his alleged role in multiple terror-linked activities

Happy Passia Arrest Latest News Today: In a significant breakthrough for Indian investigative agencies, absconding gangster Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, a key associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, has been arrested in the United States, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Happy Passia had been on the radar of Indian security agencies for his alleged role in multiple terror-linked activities, including grenade attacks targeting a private residence in Chandigarh and several police stations across Punjab. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has been spearheading the probe into these incidents, had earlier declared a reward of ₹5 lakh for information leading to his arrest.

Sources familiar with the matter said the fugitive was apprehended by U.S. authorities following close coordination and intelligence sharing with Indian counterparts. The development marks a major win in the ongoing crackdown against Rinda’s transnational terror network that has been operating with support from Pakistan’s ISI.

Happy Passia is believed to have played a crucial role in logistics and planning for the attacks orchestrated under Rinda’s direction. Harvinder Singh Rinda, once a prominent gangster in Punjab, is now a designated terrorist who is believed to be operating from Pakistan and linked to pro-Khalistani groups and narco-terror networks.

Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and NIA are reportedly working on initiating formal extradition proceedings to bring Passia back to India to face trial. The NIA has already filed multiple cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with these attacks.

The arrest comes amid rising concerns over the use of cross-border networks by fugitive gangsters to fuel terrorism in India. Authorities say that the collaboration between organized crime syndicates and extremist outfits has emerged as a growing threat, particularly in Punjab and northern India.

Further details regarding the timing of the extradition and charges to be pressed against Happy Passia are expected in the coming days.
