National Press Day 2025: Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, on Sunday morning, extended greetings to all members of the press and media on the occasion of 'National Press Day'. Kharge in a post on his X, wrote, “On #NationalPressDay, we extend our warm greetings to all members of the Press and Media.As guardians of our Democratic institutions, the media must uphold its duty with courage, integrity and independence - with no fear and no favour.”
“A truly free press does not exist to freely amplify the government’s prejudiced agendas or conceal its failures; it exists to question every action of the government and the Prime Minister, holding them accountable at every step, for that is the essence of Democracy, “ Kharge added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other hand, is yet to post or extend greetings to members of the press and media on 'National Press Day'.
