Three women were killed and 5 children of a nomadic tribe were injured today when a landslide hit their tent in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The tribal people, who take their cattle for grazing to upper reaches, had pitched a tent at the foothills in Sasho belt of Paddar tehsil, said police officials adding that a big boulder hit their tent during the landslide, resulting in the death of women and injuries to children.

The women, who were crushed to death under the boulders, were identified as Zeenam, 46, Maryam, 27, and Zareena, 22. The five children including two girls were injured, the police officials said.  All the injured children, who were below 6 years of age, were hospitalized, they said adding the post-mortem examinations of the victim women were being conducted. Their bodies would be handed over to their families after the autopsy, they said.
