Students who have completed 17 years age by Dec 31, 2024 will be able to appear in NEET UG-2024

NEW-DELHI: The National Medical Commission has made a major change in the rules with the release of NEET UG-2023 results. Lakhs of students have been given a huge relaxation in the age criteria. Now, the students who have completed 17 years of age by 31 December 2024 will be able to appear in NEET UG-2024.

As per the old rules, students who completed 17 years of age by January 31, 2024 were declared eligible to appear in the NEET UG-2024 examination. Quota education expert Dev Sharma said that according to the orders issued by the Chairman of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMER), students who have completed the age of 17 years now have an additional relaxation of 11 months.

Notably, Every year an average of 20 lakh students apply for the NEET UG exam. The role of percentage of marks in 12th board has also been eliminated in the eligibility criteria released for NEET UG. Now all the students who have cleared the 12th board will be eligible to appear in the medical entrance exam NEET-UG.
