He also talked about the extended inclusion of the history of the Maratha Empire in CBSE textbooks.
Mumbai News: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday stated that Mumbai will remain part of Maharashtra, refuting doubts that it will be separated from the state.
Addressing the State Assembly, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, "There is no need to have any doubt that Maharashtra is a powerful state. It is a united Maharashtra created by 106 martyrs. Therefore, no one should harbour any doubt that Mumbai will be separated or detached from Maharashtra.”
The chief minister added that such discussions arise whenever elections approach.
“Mumbai belonged to Maharashtra yesterday, it belongs to Maharashtra today, and as long as the sun and moon exist, Mumbai will remain a part of Maharashtra,” Devendra Fadnavis added.
He added that Maharashtra will continue to walk the path shown by “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, following his principle and the path of the Constitution given by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar..."
He also talked about the extended inclusion of the history of the Maratha Empire in CBSE textbooks.
Drawing a comparison between the then CBSE curriculum and now, Fadnavis said, "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's principles were accepted in Maharashtra, but there were many misconceptions about them at the national level.”
“In CBSE textbooks, there was only one paragraph about the Maratha Empire, the Hindavi Swarajya. But the history of the Mughals spanned 17 pages. But now this history has changed. The central government has now included a 21-page history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Maratha Empire in the CBSE curriculum,” the chief minister added.
Talking about the state’s economy, Fadnavis claimed that “Maharashtra is number one in the country in terms of foreign investment.”
