HYDERABAD: In a series of extensive operations across Telangana, law enforcement authorities have confiscated unaccounted cash and gold, shedding light on potential financial malpractice ahead of the state's impending assembly elections on November 30. Since the commencement of the Model Election Code on October 9, seizures have amounted to a staggering Rs 20 crore in cash and 31.9 kg of gold.

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer released an official statement detailing the extent of these seizures. In addition to the cash and precious metals, authorities have also confiscated illicit goods. This includes liquor valued at Rs 86.9 lakh and ganja with an estimated worth of Rs 89 lakh. Moreover, other miscellaneous items worth Rs 22.51 lakh were seized during these operations.

The Substantial seizures raise concerns about potential attempts to influence the democratic process through financial means. With the elections looming, authorities are ensuring heightened vigilance and taking stringent measures to maintain the integrity of the democratic process by curbing illegal practices related to election financing.
