The original schedule had set the deadline for December 11, 2025, with draft rolls to follow on December 16, 2025.
EC Extends Voter Roll Revision Deadlines in Six States and UTs Before 2026 Elections
The Election Commission of India (EC) has announced a revision in the timeline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six states and Union territories. The decision comes after requests from the chief electoral officers of the concerned regions.
The Commission has extended the enumeration period and postponed the publication of draft electoral rolls to provide election officials more time to ensure accuracy in the SIR process. The original schedule had set the deadline for December 11, 2025, with draft rolls to follow on December 16, 2025.
Under the revised schedule, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat will now have their enumeration period extended until December 14, 2025, with draft electoral rolls to be published on December 19, 2025. For Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the new deadline for completing enumeration is December 18, 2025, and the draft rolls will be published on December 23, 2025. Uttar Pradesh has the longest extension, with enumeration now ending on December 26, 2025, and draft rolls scheduled for December 31, 2025.
The Commission also clarified that the enumeration period for Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal will end on December 11, 2025, with draft rolls to be published on December 16, 2025, as per the earlier timetable. Additionally, Kerala’s SIR timeline had been previously revised, with enumeration ending on December 18, 2025, and draft rolls to be published on December 23, 2025.
The EC has urged all eligible electors, including first-time voters, to submit Form 6 along with the required declaration, either through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or via the ECINet app and portal, to ensure their names are included in the final electoral rolls, which are scheduled for publication in February 2026.
