ChatGPT Suffers Global Outage: Users Report "Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong," Errors
New Delhi, [June 10, 2025] – Users worldwide are reporting a significant outage of ChatGPT, OpenAI's popular AI chatbot, today, June 10th. Many are encountering error messages such as "Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong," along with difficulties logging in, slow responses, or complete unresponsiveness from the service. The disruption has led to a flood of memes on X (formerly Twitter) reflecting users' frustration and reliance on the AI tool.
According to Downdetector, the issues reportedly began around 12:00 PM IST today and peaked at approximately 3:15 PM IST. The majority of reports (88%) concern the ChatGPT web application. A smaller percentage of users have reported issues with the mobile app (8%) and the API (3%), as per an India Today report citing Downdetector data.
Interestingly, the outage does not appear to be affecting every user.

One user humorously posted, "Sorry we overused and made you sick !!!"
Another noted the irony, writing, "When @ChatGPT is so overworked it can't even finish your message... Today, many users (myself included) are facing errors in the message stream. Is @OpenAI having a burnout day? The fun part? I asked #ChatGPT to write this tweet about its own crash. Self-awareness level."
The immediate rush to social media was captured by a user who tweeted, "Me and my friends running towards twitter to check #chatgpt Down."
The sentiment of dependency was clear when another user asked, "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WORK WITHOUT MY CHATGPT."
Highlighting critical reliance, one post read, "ChatGPT is having a major incident and outage. Hope no surgeon is currently doing surgery and relies on this."
Some users took the opportunity to critique what they saw as over-dependency, with one writing, "The overloading & overusing of #chatgpt by slackers, couch potatoes, lazybums-unwilling to work & engage in efforts-you all, Yes you all have driven the AI machine into its health crisis.#ChatGPTdown."
