Just like UPI payment QR codes, Aadhaar verification QR codes will soon be available widely.

Govt. Launches New Aadhaar Card App with face ID and QR verification, Physical card not needed, latest news: The Centre launched a new Aadhaar app on Tuesday. The app allows users to authenticate and transfer data digitally, marking a significant step towards digital convenience and privacy.
With this development, there is no need to carry physical cards or photocopies.

The application was launched in the national capital by the Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Sharing videos of himself talking about the app, the minister wrote on his X handle:
“No need to hand over Aadhaar photocopies at hotel receptions, shops, or during travel. The Aadhaar App is secure and shareable only with the user's consent — 100% digital & secure.”
He added, “The Aadhaar App ensures stronger privacy, no more misuse or leaks of Aadhaar data, and protection against forgery or editing (like photoshopping your Aadhaar!)”
"There is a reason behind this. You must have seen news reports about Aadhaar card forgery — people creating fake Aadhaar cards by editing them in Photoshop. This has been a major problem reported from across the country. To tackle this issue, a step-by-step program has been developed," he said in another video shared on his X handle.

The application has been developed in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It includes features like QR code-based real-time verification and Face ID authentication.
"Aadhaar verification becomes as simple as making a UPI payment. Users can now digitally verify and share their Aadhaar details while ensuring their privacy," the minister wrote on X.
Just like UPI payment QR codes, Aadhaar verification QR codes will soon be available widely.
Aadhaar users will no longer need to rely on OTPs, fingerprints, or document scans.

In the video shared by the minister on X, a person is seen scanning a QR code displayed on what appears to be a kiosk. As soon as he scans it, the app on his phone activates the front camera and instantly verifies his identity.

According to reports, the app is currently in its beta testing stage and has been designed with strong privacy safeguards. It is expected to be widely implemented across the country soon.
