Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Granted Parole Again After 30-Day Release in January, Latest News: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, convicted in rape and murder cases, is out on parole again — this time for 21 days. He was granted parole by the Haryana government and was released from Sunaria jail in Rohtak, Haryana, on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, he will stay at the Dera’s headquarters in Sirsa during this period. In previous instances, he stayed at the Dera’s ashram in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier this year, in January, he was granted parole in January for 30 days — just a week before the Delhi Assembly elections. This is reportedly his fifth release since October 2024. In total, he has been granted parole 13 times, amounting to 326 days of release since October 24, 2020.
In August 2017, Ram Rahim was convicted of the rape of two female disciples and sentenced to 20 years in prison. In 2019, he was also convicted for the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, who had reported on the rapes. Additionally, he faces accusations related to the castration of followers and forced separations of families.
His paroles have often coincided with elections in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan.
Despite his convictions and imprisonment, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh continues to enjoy a large following. Many of his supporters still view him as a spiritual leader and remain loyal to Dera Sacha Sauda.
