The attack came after Pakistan resorted to attack several areas in India
India vs Pakistan War Latest News Today, Sialkot, Lahore, and Islamabad: After successfully defending itself from Pakistan's attack, India retaliated with a drone attack in Sialkot, Islamabad, and Lahore. In the meantime, Pakistan's AWACS defence system in Pak's Punjab has also been destroyed by India.
In a swift and decisive response to Pakistan’s attempted drone and missile attacks on Indian military targets, India launched retaliatory drone strikes on Thursday, targeting key locations in Sialkot, Islamabad, and Lahore. The Indian Armed Forces also successfully destroyed Pakistan’s Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) defence infrastructure in Punjab province, significantly weakening Pakistan’s air defence capabilities. The escalation follows India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people.
According to the Indian Ministry of Defence, Pakistan attempted to strike 15 military installations across northern and western India, including bases in Amritsar, Pathankot, Jammu, Srinagar, and Chandigarh, on the night of May 7-8. The attacks were thwarted by India’s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Russian-made S-400 Triumf air defence systems, which neutralized the incoming drones and missiles. Debris from the Pakistani attacks is being recovered to substantiate India’s claims of aggression. In response, India deployed Israeli-made Harop drones to target air defence radars and systems in multiple Pakistani cities, with a focus on Sialkot, Islamabad, and Lahore.
A significant blow was dealt to Pakistan’s military capabilities with the destruction of its AWACS defence system in Punjab, particularly in Lahore, where the Chinese-developed HQ-9 missile defence units were rendered inoperative. The Indian Defence Ministry confirmed, “An air defence system in Lahore has been neutralized, alongside strikes on radars in Sialkot, Islamabad, and other locations. India’s response matched Pakistan’s in domain and intensity, remaining focused and non-escalatory.” Posts on X echoed the sentiment, with users claiming that Pakistan’s air defence systems in Lahore and Sialkot were “decimated,” though Pakistan has denied significant damage to its infrastructure.
