US President Donald Trump has imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian imports, in addition to the 25 percent already imposed, bringing the total to 50 percent.
Shiv Sena (UBT) Priyanka Chaturvedi on Thursday called out the US’s double standard, stating India is not the only country trading with Russia and that other countries like the US itself, the European Union, China, and Turkey also trade with Russia.
Shiv Sena (UBT) Priyanka Chaturvedi speaking to PTI said, "This shows double standard of the US... not only India is purchasing Russian oil. The US, the European Union, China, and Turkey are also engaging in trade with Russia. Trump targeting India shows that he is arm-twisting us. China has got 90-day relief, but not India."
She further said, "(Pakistan) General Asim Munir is going to the US again... do trade with us, give money to them... how fair is it?"
"It is for India to decide with whom it wants to keep diplomatic ties. Now, India also needs to decide something... our PM should tell us what kind of retaliatory measures we are going to take," she added.
She said that specifically targeting India speaks more about "some reason why he wishes to bully India into submission to the trade deal."
