Why India Named AirStrike Against Pakistan Operation Sindoor latest news: India named its recent counterstrike Operation Sindoor in response to a tragic terror attack in Pahalgam. The attack claimed the lives of several tourists, many of whom were targeted based on their religion  and killed in front of their families. 25 women were widowed, including a newly married bride.

The name Sindoor symbolizes the vermilion Hindu women wear as a symbol of marriage. The spilled vermilion in the military’s graphic represents the heartbreak of these women whose husbands were taken from them.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally chose the name for the operation, emphasizing that those responsible for the attack would face severe consequences India's military carried out precision strikes on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, targeting bases linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and other terrorist organizations. 

Pakistan retaliated with cross-border firing, killing civilians. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called India's actions an act of war and promised a response. Meanwhile, many grieving families have expressed gratitude to the Indian government for taking strong action.
