This price increase follows the government's recent decision to raise excise duties on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre.
LPG Cylinder Price Latest News Today: In a recent announcement, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders will be increased by Rs 50, effective from April 8, 2025. This hike applies to both beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) and non-PMUY consumers.
With this adjustment, the cost of a subsidized LPG cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme will rise to Rs 550, while non-Ujjwala consumers will pay Rs 853 per cylinder. This price increase follows the government's recent decision to raise excise duties on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri said, "The price per cylinder of LPG will increase by Rs 50. From 500, it will go up to 550 (for PMUY beneficiaries), and for others, it will go up from Rs 803 to Rs 853. This is a step that we will review as we go along. We review these every 2-3 weeks. Therefore, the excise duty that you have seen increase is not to go on to the consumer on petrol and diesel. That excise increase is intended to compensate the oil marketing companies for Rs 43,000 crore that they have incurred as a loss on the gas part of it..."
Consumers are advised to plan accordingly for the increased expenditure on cooking gas. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas assures the public that efforts are ongoing to stabilize fuel prices and minimize the impact on household budgets.
