Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: BJP MP from Kurukshetra, Naveen Jindal, expressed strong confidence in his party's victory in the Haryana Assembly elections as he cast his vote on Saturday. He emphasized that the people of Haryana will support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once more, leading to the formation of a BJP government in the state.
Speaking to the media after voting, Jindal said, "There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people today. We are very happy to see them come out and vote. I am confident that the brave and informed citizens of Haryana will give their blessings to the BJP. Haryana will support the BJP, and Nayab Singh Saini will become Chief Minister again."
Jindal, who arrived at the polling booth on horseback, explained that he considered it auspicious to do so. "I came riding a horse because it is believed to bring good luck," he said. He also highlighted his mother, Savitri Jindal, who is contesting from Hisar, stating, "She wants to do a lot for Hisar, and it will be up to the people of Hisar to decide whom they want as their representative."
When questioned about the BJP's potential Chief Ministerial candidate, Jindal acknowledged the stature of other party leaders, saying, "Anil Vij is also a very prominent leader in our party. Time will tell who becomes the Chief Minister, but every leader has the right to express their views."
Voting across Haryana’s 90 assembly seats kicked off on Saturday morning, with the Election Commission reporting a voter turnout of 9.53% by 9 AM. Jind district recorded the highest turnout at 12.71%, followed by Palwal at 12.45%, Ambala at 11.87%, Fatehabad at 11.81%, and Mahendragarh at 11.51%.
Meanwhile, Faridabad reported an 8.82% turnout, Gurgaon 6.10%, Hisar 8.49%, and Jhajjar 8.43% by 9 AM.
Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also cast his vote early in the day. After voting, he launched a sharp criticism of the Congress, accusing the party of spreading lies and blaming their past corruption for rising unemployment. Khattar argued that under BJP’s governance, employment opportunities have significantly improved, especially in Haryana.
Khattar served as the Chief Minister for nearly 9.5 years before being succeeded by Nayab Singh Saini in March of this year. Saini is leading the BJP in this election and is contesting from the Ladwa constituency. The BJP is seeking a third consecutive term in Haryana, while the Congress is aiming to capitalize on anti-incumbency sentiments, with issues such as farmer protests and wrestler demonstrations shaping the electoral narrative.
