New Delhi: Liquor stores that are in the red zone opened at 9 am today. There were long lines outside liquor stores ahead of schedule. People have been standing outside the shops since 7 am. Everyone in Lockdown wants to get alcohol soon.

As per the order issued by the Excise Department regarding the opening of liquor shops in Delhi, liquor shops in malls, markets, complexes and general markets will remain closed. L-6 and L-8 licensed shops which have been listed by the concerned departments of the Delhi Government and all such shops will be open from 9 am to 6.30 pm.
File photoAs per the guidelines of Home Department, the entire responsibility of opening the shop will be with the concerned department (DSIIDC, DTTDC, DSCSC, DCCWS). A large number of marshals should be deployed outside each shop and no more than 5 people should be gathered outside one shop at a time. The L-1 and L-1F are allowed to open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., but with 33% staff strength.
Some people have fled in fear of the police. About 150 liquor shops are expected to open in Delhi from Monday. These 150 liquor stores are located in areas that are located in the containment zone.
