Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for unity and progress to benefit the nation

GWALIOR: In a recent address during a rally in Gwalior, Prime Minister Narendra Modi indirectly accused the opposition, without specifically naming the Congress party, of exploiting caste divisions for political gain over the past six decades. He emphasized the importance of progress over divisive strategies, underscoring the achievements of his government in contrast to alleged divisive practices.

The Prime Minister's comments followed the recent release of Bihar's caste survey results by the Nitish Kumar government, revealing that Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) constitute a significant 63 percent of the state's population. The Congress, part of Bihar's ruling Grand Alliance, has pledged to conduct a caste-based census nationwide if it assumes power.

Addressing the crowd, PM Modi questioned the efficacy of a long governance period without significant development. He compared the nine-year tenure of his government to the six decades that preceded it, suggesting that considerable progress had been achieved in a relatively short time, indicating the potential for far-reaching advancements.

Without naming any specific political entity, PM Modi criticized the alleged caste-based division propagated by the opposition, emphasizing that such divisive tactics were detrimental to the nation's growth and unity. He highlighted past and present instances where caste-based politics were purportedly used, underlining the necessity of focusing on development and inclusivity for the nation's betterment.

During his address, the Prime Minister drew attention to the opposition's inclination to center its narrative around a particular family, insinuating a contrast with his administration's approach, which prioritizes the nation's overall pride and progress. The comments came as the Prime Minister inaugurated significant development projects in Gwalior, reflecting the government's ongoing efforts to drive progress and prosperity in the region, with projects totaling over Rs 19,000 crore.
