Hathras Stampede Death Toll Latest News: July 2 was a black day in the history of Hatharas, Uttar Pradesh as more than 100 people, including women and children, were killed after a stampede broke out at a 'satsang' (prayer meeting) organized by a self-styled godman, Bhole Baba aka Narayan Saakar Hari, in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras on Tuesday.
According to information, Narayan Saakar Hari is believed to be at his 'ashram' in Mainpuri, about 100 km from the Phulrai village, where the event was attended by thousands of devotees. Several senior police officials reached the Hathras stampede site, while others started hunting the "Godman" at his ashram, the Ram Kutir Charitable Trust.
In the meantime, a committee has been established to investigate the incident. Likewise, an FIR has been registered against organisers of religious congregation.
On the other hand, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.
PM Modi said, "Spoke to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji regarding the tragic incident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The UP government is engaged in providing all possible help to all the victims. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured."
