Family members and administration officials who arrived in Domana for the funeral of an elderly man who died of the corona virus have faced strong opposition from the public.

According to the family of the deceased, a 72-year-old retired teacher died of corona at GMC Jammu on Monday. At 6.30 am on Tuesday, a revenue officer and a medical team reached the Domana area in an ambulance carrying the body.
The deceased's two sons and wife were in the ambulance. All were provided with necessary safety equipment including PPE kits. As soon as the cremation process started, a large number of locals gathered there to protest against the cremation.

Family members allege that stones were thrown by accompanying health workers and several others. Due to this the half burnt body has to be brought to GMC.
"We had sought permission from the government to conduct cremation in our home district, but the authorities said the death had taken place here," the elder son said. At the same time proper arrangements will be made for the funeral and no interruption will be allowed in the cremation.
The family alleged that the security personnel present at the spot did not help them while two security personnel were present at the spot.
