WAVES Summit in Mumbai, WAVES Bazaar 2025, latest news: The WAVES Bazaar, part of the ongoing WAVES Summit in Mumbai, has emerged as a major platform for international collaboration in the media and entertainment industry. The event, which began on May 1, has already shown promising results, including business deals worth Rs 250 crore in its first two days. The market is expected to grow even further and cross Rs 400 crore by the end of the summit.
Speaking at the summit in Mumbai, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, shared that WAVES Bazaar 2025 had already recorded business deals worth over ₹250 crore within the first two days. He highlighted the event’s success in fostering international alliances and called it a “game-changer” for India’s creative economy.
WAVES Bazaar is a global market designed to bring together creators, investors, and buyers from around the world. Its aim is to turn India into a key player in the international media and entertainment business. The event has attracted top players from over 22 countries, including South Korea, Japan, the USA, Germany, and Russia. Major companies like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney, and Sony LIV have participated in the event, as shared on the website of the PIB.
Key Highlights from WAVES Bazaar 2025
Viewing Room and Market Screenings: 115 filmmakers showcased their completed projects to international buyers.
15 projects were selected as Top Selects and presented live, with actor Tiger Shroff supporting one of these films.
Pitch Room:104 projects were submitted, and 16 were selected to pitch live to industry experts, giving early-stage creators the opportunity to get noticed.
B2B Buyer-Seller Market: WAVES Bazaar also held India's first B2B (Business-to-Business) meetings to help connect buyers and sellers in the industry. These meetings, in partnership with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry), helped companies negotiate deals and strengthen business ties.
As per information available on the Press Information Bureau website, several key announcements were made on May 2 during the WAVES Bazaar.
One of the Top Selects, Khidki Gaon, secured a post-production and VFX deal with the Asian Cinema Fund, supported by the Busan International Film Festival.
In another major development, Broadvision Perspectives (India) and Fabrique d’Images (Europe) signed a €30 million co-production deal to create four animated films—marking a big step for India in global animation.
Also, India and the UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop a series on India’s colonial history, aiming to take Indian stories to international platforms.
Meanwhile, TV Asahi announced the “Shin Chan India Year” to celebrate the show’s popularity in India. The film Shin Chan: Our Dinosaur Diary will hit theatres on May 9, with fan events planned for later in the year.
