The Indian Army has ended up with the search and rescue operation at the Mana area of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Chamoli Avalanche Rescue Operation Latest News Today: On Sunday, The Indian Army has ended up with the search and rescue operation at the Mana area of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. These operations were aimed at rescuing Border Roads Organisation (BRO) staff who were stranded after an avalanche on February 28.

The Indian Army said that of the 54 BRO workers trapped, 46 were rescued and are undergoing medical care. Unfortunately, 8 people lost their lives in this mishap. The Army conveyed sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and paid tribute to the bravery of all BRO staff involved in the development of remote parts of the country.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami sent his deepest condolences to the families of the dead workers and wished the injured ones a speedy recovery. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that the operation was carried out successfully with immense help from both the state and central governments.

The rescue personnel from Army, ITBP, Air Force, NDRF, and SDRF worked round the clock during the last two days. Despite difficult terrain, 46 workers were rescued by them. High-tech gadgets like victim-locating and thermal imaging cameras and a Drone-Based Intelligent Buried Object Detection System came in handy in the rescue operation.

The 8 staff members who perished have created a gap that can never be replaced. The bodies were air-lifted to Joshimath military hospital and will be released to their relatives once formalities are done legally.

The Indian Army's efforts and good weather coupled with the state-of-the-art technology made it possible to wind up this rescue operation, closing the chapter of the Mana Village Rescue Operation. The courage and resilience of everyone involved, right from the BRO personnel, shall be remembered and celebrated.
