BJP Launches Punjab Campaign to Educate Labourers on VB-G RAM G Scheme
Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Sunil Jakhar announced that the party will launch a public awareness campaign on the Viksit Bharat G Ram G (VB-G RAM G) scheme in Punjab from January 7. The campaign will begin in Fazilka district, focused on informing labourers about the scheme’s benefits, he said.
Jakhar said that the initiative was “formulated in the interest of the poor” and aligned with the Government of India’s policy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. He said the scheme increases the guaranteed employment days for the poor from 100 to 125 days and establishes accountability where work is not provided. It also ensures that wage amounts are credited directly into labourers’ bank accounts.
Jakhar alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the Congress are opposing the pro-poor scheme and spreading “falsehoods” in society, he claimed. He added that the campaign will “expose the misleading propaganda” being spread against the welfare measure.
He further said that under the new law, failures to provide employment will attract accountability, whereas earlier no one was held responsible for not providing 100 days of work. Jakhar described the opposition’s criticism as an attempt to divert attention from its own governance failures and said the BJP will make labourers aware of the truth about the scheme.
