An Official Notification Regarding Committee Formation Expected to be Issued Shortly

NEW-DELHI: The Central Government has taken a significant step toward the concept of 'One Country, One Election' by forming a committee to delve into the matter. As reported by the news agency PTI, former President Ram Nath Kovind has been appointed as the Chairman of this committee, and an official notification regarding its formation is expected to be issued shortly.

This development coincides with the Central Government's decision to convene a special session of Parliament scheduled from September 18 to September 22. It is speculated that during this session, the government may introduce a bill related to 'One Country, One Election,' a concept that has been under discussion for some time.

Notably, The Committee established by the Central Government will primarily focus on examining the legal intricacies surrounding the 'One Country, One Election' proposal. Additionally, it aims to solicit opinions and input from the general public, emphasizing inclusivity and seeking diverse perspectives on this significant constitutional reform.

In response to this decision, the opposition party, Congress, has raised objections. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, questioned the sudden urgency for 'One Country, One Election' and expressed skepticism about the government's motives. It's worth noting that the Central Government announced the special session of Parliament just yesterday, setting the stage for a comprehensive discussion on this topic among lawmakers.
