Himachal Pradesh Development: CM Sukhu Rolls Out Rs 69 Crore Projects in Ghumarwin
On Thursday, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of development projects worth INR 69 crore in the Ghumarwin Assembly constituency of Bilaspur district, underlining his government’s focus on improving infrastructure, connectivity and public amenities in the region.
According to officials, during his one-day visit to Ghumarwin, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Ghumarwin Police Station, built at a cost of INR 4.82 crore, providing modern facilities for law enforcement and community safety. He also dedicated to the public a check dam and deck over the Seer Khad, constructed at INR 3.67 crore, an initiative expected to assist local water management and address seasonal flow issues.
Sukhu laid the foundation stones for several major projects focused on improving infrastructure and quality of life for residents. Among these projects is a multi-purpose sports complex near the Tikkari Helipad in Ghumarwin, to be developed at an estimated cost of INR 6.08 crore to promote sporting activities and youth engagement. He also initiated the construction of family quarters for police personnel adjacent to the Ghumarwin Police Station, with a sanctioned cost of INR 6 crore, with the aim of strengthening security infrastructure with improved residential facilities.
With an objective to improve road connectivity and accessibility in the hilly terrain, Sukhu laid the foundation for the upgrade of the seven-kilometre Amarpur-Hadsar-Dahad-Jaman-Ghumarwin road at INR 6.13 crore and the 31-kilometre Ghumarwin-Barthin-Shah Talai road at Rs 34.95 crore. Additionally, the construction of a 68-metre jeepable bridge over the Seer Khad on the Badi Majhedwan-Dahad-Panol road, with an estimated cost of INR 6.80 crore, was also begun to improve rural connectivity.
Local residents warmly welcomed the CM upon his arrival. The CM interacted with them and heard their concerns and grievances. Speaking at the event, he reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the all-round development of Himachal Pradesh and highlighted efforts to tackle drug trafficking in the state, urging citizens to support the mission to eradicate the synthetic drug ‘chitta’.
The Chief Minister also took part in a state-level function of the Pensioners Welfare Association and assured members that their legitimate demands would be addressed promptly. According to officials, Sukhu noted that the state government has already spent over INR 2,155 crore on the disbursal of pensions and arrears to employees and pensioners, reflecting fiscal commitment to social welfare.
Prominent ministers, including Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani and Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, were present on the occasion, demonstrating the administration’s collective support for local development initiatives.
