“The body was headless, and the woman was only wearing upper garments; there were no other clothes on her body,” the SP added.
A spine-chilling murder has come to light from Yamunanagar, Haryana, where a man allegedly strangulated his live-in partner, beheaded her, and dumped the headless body in a field, ANI reported, quoting police.
The incident came to light when the body of a young woman was found in a field in Bahadurpur village under the Pratap Nagar police station area on December 7, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamal Deep Goyal said during a press conference.
“The body was headless, and the woman was only wearing upper garments; there were no other clothes on her body,” the SP added.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was immediately formed to probe the case. The officer said, “Despite all our efforts, no one came forward to identify the woman...”
Police arrested the accused, identified as Bilal, on Yesterday based on technical inputs. The most challenging part of the investigation was establishing the identity of the victim, the officer said, adding that a relentless investigation had been carried out continuously over the past six days.
The SP further stated that the accused revealed the woman had been in contact with him for about two years and that they were in a live-in relationship.
“The woman wanted to marry him, but the man's family had arranged his marriage elsewhere... He feared that the woman might interfere with his marriage and bring dishonour to his family. He planned to remove her from his life,” SP Kamal Deep Goyal told the media.
On the night of December 6, at around 8 pm, the accused began travelling with the woman from Saharanpur. Upon reaching near Bahadurpur village, he stopped the car on some pretext, moved to the back seat, and strangled her with a seatbelt, police said.
Around 500 metres later, he took the woman’s body out of the car, dragged it into a field, slit her throat with a knife, and removed her clothes to prevent identification. He later threw the head and the clothes somewhere in the jungle, the SP stated.
Police will seek an eight-day remand of the accused on later today, the SP said.
The woman’s father and brother have been informed of the incident.
