Haryana Expands Lado Lakshmi Scheme, Raises Income Ceiling to Rs 1.8 Lakh
The Haryana government has expanded its flagship Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Scheme. According to officials, it has changed eligibility criteria and raised the annual family income ceiling to Rs 1.8 lakh. The decision was taken at a Haryana Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to give wider reach to the women's empowerment initiative.
Under the new provisions, the scheme will now include additional categories of beneficiaries beyond the original income criterion. Mothers of government school students securing over 80% marks in Class X or XII and mothers whose children achieve grade-level competency under the NIPUN Bharat Mission (Classes I–IV) will qualify for benefits. Similarly, mothers who have successfully rehabilitated children from severe or moderate acute malnutrition will be eligible. For these new categories, the income limit has been fixed at Rs 1.80 lakh per annum as per the Family Information Data Repository (FIDR).
The government also clarified that mothers with more than three children will not be eligible under the expanded criteria, aligning the scheme with socio-economic and family-size objectives.
As per the scheme guidelines, the monthly assistance of INR 2,100 per eligible woman will continue. From the second month onwards, the benefit will be disbursed in two parts, with INR 1,100 credited to the beneficiary’s savings account and INR 1,000 deposited in a government-operated RD or FD account, with the accumulated amount payable on maturity, the government sources said, adding that the tenure will be decided later.
Saini said the changes are focused on evolving the scheme from a cash assistance programme into a holistic, outcome-orientated initiative aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Launched on September 25, 2025, the scheme has already seen more than ten lakh women register, according to official data.
